Robert Charnock

Founding Director, Metis Institute of Climate Strategy

Dr. Robert J. Charnock has specialized in sustainability accounting since 2012, bringing extensive experience from both academia and industry. He earned his Ph.D. in Carbon Accounting from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), based on his work with the United Nations to develop Scope 3 carbon accounting standards for the financial sector. Dr. Charnock also served as a member of the ISSB Technical Reference Panel and has a decade of experience lecturing and teaching financial and management accounting.Dr. Charnock is leading Metis to drive forward with research into best practice focussing on three core themes: net zero transition planning, biodiversity scenario analysis, and ESG for MSMEs. Metis works closely with leading organizations such as WWF, WBCSD, and AICPA-CIMA on transition planning and ESG-related projects.Metis also has ongoing consulting engagements in collaboration with RSK Group, who part-fund Metis, driving practical applications of their specialist insights. Collaborations typically support RSK’s consultants in developing new methodologies and tackling practical challenges faced by clients at the forefront of climate- and nature-related risk, strategy and disclosure.

Dawn is adept at communication and uses her extensive experience of technology marketing to shape how companies communicate their ESG commitments to stakeholders. She assists in tailoring communication strategies – through Sustainability reports, stakeholder engagements, ESG forums – to raise awareness of ESG issues. Since joining Paia, Dawn has played an integral part in leading sustainability content development for clients in the telecom sector, local business associations as well as initiating partnerships with climate technology and learning partners.

Valerie Phua

Senior Consultant, Paia Consulting

Valerie is a Senior Consultant and training lead at Paia. With a background in social work and social policy, Valerie brings the “S (Social)” in ESG – Environmental, Social, and Governance perspective to the Paia team. Valerie has developed sustainability strategy through materiality assessments and roadmap design, calculated and analysed greenhouse gas inventories, and assessed companies’ climate-related risks and opportunities. As training lead, Valerie oversees curriculum and in-house training development, and delivers ESG-related training.

Liu Weiting

Weiting is an accomplished sustainability professional with experience delivering sustainability-related services, particularly with respect to climate change and biodiversity. Weiting has an excellent understanding of a broad range of sustainability topics, which she levers in support of the development of strategy and reporting in accordance with a variety of international standards (TCFD, ISSB, GRI, CDP, TPT, TNFD).Weiting is also a driven social scientist with five years of independent research experience in human nature interface. Through this experience, she has developed a capacity for critical thinking and quantitative data analysis, and also became a competent teaching assistant, having been placed on the honour roll for consistently high teaching performance at the National University of Singapore.The transferable skills and interdisciplinary knowledge Weiting possesses make her highly adaptable in different environments and cultures, while at the same time proficient in delivering high-quality results. Weiting is keen to explore opportunities with influential organisations, where she can tap into her academic and corporate experiences to propose solutions that break the silo and enhance synergies between climate change and biodiversity.

Kevin Milla

Senior Consultant, Paia Consulting

Kevin Milla serves as Paia Consulting’s carbon specialist. In this role, he oversees new decarbonisation transition plans (roadmaps), greenhouse gas (GHG) calculations & inventories, and carbon training courses to expand the firm’s carbon service line. Kevin previously worked in maritime energy research, creating GHG inventories for the Port of Singapore and performing life cycle assessments on alternative maritime fuels.

Tom Bennett

Principal Consultant, Paia Consulting

Tom is involved in engagements across the spectrum of Paia’s service lines, advising clients with their CDP and GRESB submissions, TCFD disclosures, and sustainability reporting and strategy requirements. Tom also supports clients’ training needs, and leads the circular economy services provided by Paia, helping clients meet the National Environment Agency’s Mandatory Packaging Reporting (MPR) regulations.

Deng Yimin

Senior Consultant, Paia Consulting

Yimin’s background in Environmental Studies has enriched her experiences working in corporate sustainability, ESG research and Singapore’s public sector. She has helped clients on various topics, from improving sustainability rating scores, benchmarking and comparing corporate sustainability disclosures and standardising industry initiatives in the services and logistics sector. She has also been exposed to field surveying work in terms of flora and fauna surveys and social surveys. At Paia, Yimin works with clients from different sectors to deliver sustainability reports, targets and strategies.

Arielle Lee

Senior Associate, Metis Institute for Climate Strategy

Arielle is a researcher at the Metis Institute for Climate Strategy, with a background in accounting and finance. She previously worked at PwC and an impact investment firm, where she gained experience in due diligence, investment analysis, stakeholder engagement, and strategy development. Her research at Metis focuses on the just transition, particularly the role of MSMEs in inclusive and sustainable economic development in Southeast Asia.In addition to research, Arielle supports training delivery by designing slide content and co-facilitating sessions. She has contributed to training programmes for AICPA-CIMA, WWF, and WBCSD, covering topics such as IFRS S2, TCFD, climate scenario analysis, double materiality, and emerging nature-related disclosures.
